Alexander Zverev got off to a solid start in Monte Carlo. At that event, he had a semi-final in which he was unable to defeat his current opponent Tsitsipas (4-6, 2-6). Then, came to his defeat at his home tournament in Munich with a 3-6, 2-6 defeat at the start to Rune.

In Madrid, the world number three opened with a hard-fought win over Cilic (4-6, 6-4, 6-4). After that again Musetti, Zverev was able to get past his opponent on the withdrawal. In the quarter-finals, Zverev handled Auger Aliaassime (6-3, 7-5) very convincingly in two sets. It should be noted that the German tennis player is defending last year’s title in the Spanish capital.
