These two will be relatively happy with their seasons so far with Rostov pushing the European spots whilst SKA, although in the relegation zone, will still feel they have a decent chance of survival.

SKA had been on a really good run of no defeats in seven competitive matches until their loss against Amkar Perm last time out and they can consider themselves unfortunate to still be in the relegation spots.

Recent matches for Aleksei Poddubskiy’s side have contained quite a few goals. This is mainly due to a rather leaky looking defence which has failed to keep a clean sheet since 27th August. However, they have also managed to score in all but one of their last four outings – allowing them to pick up vital points in the fight for survival.

After SKA’s promotion last season, much was made of the vast distances that teams will have to travel in order to away matches in Khabarovsk. The Army Men have certainly used this to their advantage with no defeats since opening day. However, it is also worth noting that they have only taken six points from a possible 12 in that time.

Although they are up in a respectable sixth spot, Rostov have not been having a great time of late with no wins in their last five matches. However, they will see this match against a relegation favourite as a good opportunity to get three points on the board.

Goals have been a huge problem for Selmashi recently with just two goals scored in those aforementioned last five matches. However, as we have come to expect from Rostov in recent years, they have been pretty solid at the back and they have now kept three clean sheets in their last six matches.

Leonid Kuchuk’s men have a decent record on their travels with just one defeat in their seven competitive matches. However, traveling all the way to Khabarovsk in the Far East is an entirely different prospect.

Rostov’s visit to Khabarovsk is the longest distance an away team will travel in the Russian Premier League this season (6618km) and so it will be interesting to see how they deal with the energy-sapping journey. SKA have used their remote location to great effect so far this campaign and I think they could do the same against an out of form Rostov side. Double Chance – SKA Khabarovsk Win or Draw is profitable at 21/20.
