Lazio vs Roma Predictions and Betting Tips
Lazio need to improve
Maurizio Sarri pits his wits against another former Chelsea boss – Jose Mourinho – when Lazio and Roma meet to contest the Derby della Capitale in the Eternal City on Sunday, though the hosts will have to kick their performances up a gear to get the better of their local rivals.
The Biancocelesti were held to a 1-1 draw at Torino in their last assignment, a result that pushed their winless run to a disappointing four matches in all competitions. Their recent slump has been sparked by a regression in output up front and nine of the 12 Serie A efforts they have hit so far this season were notched in their opening two fixtures of the campaign.
Creating chances continues to come easy for Sarri’s side however, and it shouldn’t be long before they rediscover their killer touch at the business end of the pitch.

Roma return to winning ways
Roma bounced back from their first defeat under new boss Jose Mourinho in midweek when they eked out a 1-0 win at home to Udinese thanks to a first half strike from Tammy Abraham.
The contest ended on a sour note for the Giallorossi however, when key midfielder Lorenzo Pellgrini was sent off late on when he committed a second-bookable offence and pending an appeal, the local lad will miss his hometown derby on Sunday.
Nevertheless, Roma have collected 12 points from the first 15 on offer in Serie A this term and they have maintained a 100% strike rate, netting in every contest so far.
Lazio vs Roma Key Stats:
- Roma have scored in 100% of their Serie A fixtures this season.
- Lazio have registered in all but one of their first five league games of the new campaign.
- Bryan Cristante has been booked three times in five Serie A appearances this term.
- Both teams have scored in three of Roma’s last four contests in Serie A.
Lazio vs Roma Predictions
The unpredictability and volatility of derby day in Rome means the match result markets are best avoided on Sunday and instead bettors are advised to back both teams to score. Both Lazio and Roma have been consistent goal-scorers in Serie A this term, failing to notch just once in ten games combined in the division since the summer.
Punters looking to get involved in some card action are advised to consider backing Roma’s Bryan Cristante to pick up a card. The hard-hitting midfielder has already been cautioned three times in just five Serie A appearances this season and he will be Roma’s main enforcer again on Sunday.
