“This is unacceptable” – Cristiano Ronaldo slams Erik ten Hag after Tottenham decision
Cristiano Ronaldo believes it’s ‘unacceptable’ for Manchester United Erik ten Hag to bring him on in injury time during the Tottenham game.
Man United needed a response following their goalless draw against Newcastle United at Old Trafford and as a result, Ten Hag needed to field his best players against Tottenham.
The Red Devils outplayed Spurs in the majority of the game and to charge of the game shortly after the second half. The Dutchman didn’t want to make a change that could end up backfiring so he waited until in the last 15 minutes before bringing on fresh legs from the bench.
Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the players Ten Hag had planned to bring on but the time the former Ajax manager wanted his services didn’t please Ronaldo.
The 37-year-old declined the chance to come on in the injury time and stormed down the dressing room.
Ronaldo felt disappointed by Ten Hag’s decision to bring him on that late and said it’s unacceptable for a player in his calibre.
“Don’t tell me that the top players, the guys who want everything, the key players will play three minutes,” Ronaldo told Piers Uncensored. Come on, this is unacceptable after what they keep saying before, that they respect me, that they do this, they do that.
“The coach didn’t have respect for me. So this is why the relationship, it’s in that way. He keep saying in the press that he come to me, he like me blah, blah, blah but that it’s only for the press. 100%.”
Erik ten Hag froze Ronaldo out of the Manchester United team as a result of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s behiavour at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which ultimately ruled him out of the Chelsea trip.
