John McEnroe supposed why Emma Raducanu often changes coaches
In April, Raducanu ended her partnership with coach Torben Beltz. The two had worked together for only five months. Beltz was the athlete’s third coach in the last year. After Wimbledon 2021, Nigel Sears was replaced by Andrew Richardson, but Emma parted ways with him, even though she won the US Open Championship under his guidance.
According to McEnroe, Raducanu’s parents were involved in the frequent change of coaches.
“She’s changed coaches three, four, or five times, which is incredible for a player who recently won a major tournament. Honestly, if I had won the US Open by qualifying, I wouldn’t have changed coaches-at least not for the next season. So I don’t understand such a move.
Obviously, her parents are involved. They know more than I do. But this idea of a coaching carousel – I don’t think it’s good for any player, especially for a player at this stage of his career,” Eurosport quotes McEnroe as saying.
