Injured Midfielder Set to Boost Erik Ten Haag’s Team with His Return
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is poised to make a swift return to action following an ankle ligament injury that he sustained in United’s FA Cup victory over Reading in January.
Despite initial reports suggesting a late April comeback, the Denmark international has resumed outdoor training and could feature on the bench for United’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Everton on April 8.
Eriksen has expressed his enthusiasm at the prospect of returning to action, stating that he is “just starting to wear football boots outside” and “taking it from there”. The midfielder has been undertaking gym work in recent weeks as part of his rehabilitation.
“It’s going well,” said Eriksen. “I’ve just started being outside, with football boots on. Then we take it from there, that’s the next step. I’ve been in the gym for some weeks now and now it’s time to do the next rehab session outside.”
“It’s weird not being on international duty, you’re normally away and now it’s more the thing you’re following your national team and you’re here instead of being with them. That’s weird, but it has happened before so you get used to it. But, still, you enjoy it less.”
The return of Eriksen is a significant boost for United boss Erik ten Hag, who lauded the midfielder’s importance to the team back in October. Eriksen has featured in 31 games in all competitions for the Red Devils this season prior to his injury setback.
