Andrew Copp leaves Rangers for Detroit on a 4-6 year contract with a $5+m cap hit
The contract that bound the 28-year-old forward to the New York team expires and the hockey player becomes an unrestricted free agent.
“If nothing changes, Andrew Copp will sign with Detroit, everything points to that. A good player who will probably get 5+ million [per year] for a 4-6 year term. We’ll find out soon enough,” insider Darren Dreger shared.
The striker played for Winnipeg Jets and the New York Rangers last season. He totaled 53 (21+32) points in 72 NHL championship games and 14 (6+8) points in 20 Stanley Cup games.
"It's not just a one or two year decision, it's a five-year decision. I really like where this team is headed, I just want to be a part of it going forward."
